ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Gaming Router Review

ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Gaming Router Review

A New Rapture

If you’re on the market for a gaming router, you may be wondering what options are out there. After all, the market is pretty saturated with different options, and all of them vary in terms of quality.

This review will cover a new model of the ROG Rapture. The Rapture is made by Asus, and they’re known for making high-quality routers. This isn’t a budget router, but it’s definitely one of the best that money can buy.

OFDMA

A standard router can only handle so many devices at once. The Rapture is capable of handling several devices on a single broadband channel, and that makes your gaming experiences smoother. It also helps to make your general internet activity more enjoyable. Everyone in your household can use their devices on the same channel, and you won’t experience any lag.

ROG Compatibility

The ROG product line is designed from the ground up to provide smooth gaming experiences, and the Rapture gaming router doesn’t stray from that. More importantly, the Rapture is designed to work alongside Asus ROG gaming computers to provide the best experience possible. It can optimize your network on its own, but it’ll work even better with a ROG gaming computer.

Triple Level Game Acceleration

The Rapture uses GT-AX11000 technology to accelerate the transmission of gaming related data. The GT-AX11000 effectively triples the amount of acceleration that the Rapture is capable of, and that works to lower the amount of ping that you experience during your most intense gaming sessions.

TWT

Target waiting time software is included with the Rapture. It allows the Rapture to schedule when data will be transferred to devices that are in sleep mode, and that prevents sleeping devices from being disturbed. When data is sent to a sleeping device, it can wake the device up and drain its battery. With TWT software, that isn’t an issue. Asus has tested the TWT system in the Rapture to ensure up to seven times as much battery life to sleeping devices.

Easy NAT Opening

If you’ve ever been told to open your NAT settings, you probably know how much of a pain it can be. It can be a fairly frequent issue, too. Most gaming routers haven’t even attempted to address this issue, but the Rapture has.

Switching your network ports and opening your NAT settings is as easy as following three steps. Inside the Rapture’s UI, you can select the game that you’re playing, and the device that you’re using. Then, you can make a simple click to easily switch your ports. This handy feature will keep you from having to call customer support all of the time.

ROG Gaming Center

The Rapture comes equipped with ROG Gaming Center software. The ROG Gaming Center allows you manually optimize your network, and it hosts a number of other features relating to security and gaming bandwidth. The interface for the ROG Gaming Center is designed to be as user friendly as possible, and all of the settings are adjustable with the click of a mouse.

Ultimate Control Over Server Selection

Most gaming routers that feature the ability to optimize which server you connect to do so automatically. That’s convenient, but it takes a lot of control away from you. The Rapture allows you to use the ROG Gaming Center to manually choose which server you connect to. That means that you can pick the server that is located closest to your location, and you can choose the server with the least ping.

Tri-Band

The Rapture uses tri-band technology to offer you several different connection bands. That allows you to dedicate an entire 5GHz band to your gaming endeavors, and your family can have their own bands for anything that they’re doing.

Without all of the technical jargon, that means that you won’t have to worry about anyone slowing down your network in the middle of a game. This is one of the Rapture’s features that will impact your gaming experience the most.

VPN Fusion

VPN networks are one of the safest ways to use the internet, but they require a lot of bandwidth. That’s not good for when you’re in the middle of a game. With other routers, you’d have to shut down any VPN networks that are running before you started playing on a standard connection. That’s not the case with the Rapture.

The Rapture uses VPN Fusion technology to allow you to run a VPN and a standard connection at the same time. If one of your family members needs to work on a VPN, you won’t have to worry about it slowing down your internet connection.

Aura RGB Lighting

Any gaming router can look good, but they don’t all have features that truly make them look like they belong with your gaming rig. The Rapture uses Aura RGB Lighting technology to make it light up different colors as it runs. In addition, it can synchronize with a gaming computer that is Aura compatible, and their lighting patterns will sync up.

AiProtection Pro

Asus has their own proprietary security program that is powered by Trend Micro. The AiProtection Pro software works to protect your network at all times, and it can even protect it when your computer is shutdown. This prevents any hackers or viruses from affecting your computer while you’re away.

1.8Ghz Quad Core

Gaming takes its toll on a router’s processor, and a good gaming router needs to be able to handle all of the information being passed through it at once. The ROG Rapture handles this by including a 1.8GHz quad core processor. The processor is extremely fast, and it’s capable of handling ridiculous amounts of information at once.

Conclusion

As one of the most powerful products in the ROG Rapture line, the GT-AX11000 is one that deserves to be noticed. It’s extremely fast, and it’s built to give gamers the most control over their networks possible.

The ROG Gaming Center is designed to provide gamers with the ultimate control panel, and the hardware included with the Rapture is better than what’s in most standard computers.

The Rapture is definitely one of the more expensive routers that you can get, but the price tag is reflective of the amount of quality that it offers. If you have the extra money to spend on a really high-grade gaming router, the ROG Rapture is definitely one that you should consider.
