Best RGB Fans in 2022

The primary purpose of a computer fan is obviously to keep the hardware inside your PC as cool as possible without putting off too much noise. But if you’re a gamer with a flamboyant sense of style, the fans inside your computer can add a whole lot of personality to your gaming rig. We’ve picked out ten of the best RGB fans available. In addition to providing information on each RGB fan model, we’ll also offer you with some evergreen advice you can use when shopping for RGB fans

RGB Fans Buyer’s Guide

When shopping for the best fans, you’re simply looking for models that will provide optimal cooling to your machine while keeping noise low. When shopping for the best RGB fans, all you need to do is account for the lighting quality as well. And while the specs listed for all of the RGB fans features here may be confusing at a singular glance, they’re all focused on those three core values. We’ll help you understand what they mean so you can find what you’re looking for at just a glance.

Number of Fans

More fans obviously creates better cooling throughout your entire system, but you’re going to be somewhat restricted by how much space there is for fans in your case. If you’re building a gaming rig, we generally recommend at least three fans. A PC case with less space probably won’t be up for the task of serious gaming, While some fans are packaged individually, most come in packs of at least two. Getting fans of the same model makes it easier to link them up.

Speed

The speed of fan blades doesn’t provide you with a discrete number for how efficient it is, but faster case fans tend to offer more efficient performance at the cost of a higher noise level. In specialized PC circles like gaming, fan speed is one of the most readily used benchmarks for determining the efficiency of a fan. But don’t pay attention to just speed. Factors like static pressure mechanics, fan size, and maximum air flow can have just as important of an impact.

Size

A larger fan can push air more effectively while running at lower speeds. That means that a larger fan is going to provide you with a lower noise level on average, but you won’t have a lot of choice in what sized case fans to use. That’s because the case fan compartments are set for each case. That said, a majority of RGB fans will clock in at 120 mm. Anything smaller has to run incredibly fast to be efficient, and anything more will require you to get an impractically bulky case.

Max Air Flow

The best and most accurate measurement for fan cooling is the max air flow. It combines together factors like size and speed to determine exactly how efficient a fan is. If you want to know exactly how effective your fan blades will be, you can look at this number alone. Air flow is measured in cubic feet per minute.

Noise

Noisy RGB fans can really distract you from your game, but there’s fortunately a pretty easy to read measurement for noise. Noise is measured in decibels, and the typical fan will fall in the range of about 45 to 55 decibels. This should be a manageable noise level for most, and you’ll want to do a bit of research before venturing outside of this range.

Number of LEDs

An RGB lighting system syncs up different lights to work together in unison with one another, but you can also usually control the lights on the blades on an individual level. More lights mean more elaborate light shows, but there are some other factors to consider when trying to design RGB lighting. Many models come with multiple preset lighting modes, and the number of compatible colors supported can vary from model to model. Some lights also sync up with your motherboard so that you can sync up not just the lights in your fan but those throughout your case.

Static Pressure

Static pressure isn’t an important enough measurement to justify inclusion on our specs, but it will be important to some specialized users. Static pressure refers to the amount of force that a fan can exert. Static pressure will be a big deal if there are components that could block your RGB fans, but most users won’t need to worry about static pressure for an RGB fan. Note that some fans don’t even offer a static pressure level that justifies their inclusion.

Wrapping Up

Looking for the best RGB fan? We’ve got you covered. And while we constantly update our list to make sure that only the best RGB fans are included, the shopping guide provides you with all the tools you need to venture out further and check out other models.
