Adding in a bold sense of distinction are the raised GUESS icon in the face and the silver hands and dial.

The look here is classically elegant without being ostentatious, making use of smaller numbering that lets the pronounced markers do the talking instead.
Day, date, and 24-hour timekeeping are available via the three-dial chronograph, and the leather band is both comfortable and resilient. It may not be as much of a conversation piece as some of the other watches around, but it’s a great choice if you want a watch that will do its job reliably.

Casio’s G-Shock watches are legendary among watch collectors for their ability to survive just about anything, and that’s as true for this women’s rose gold model as it is for any of the other models in the line. The rugged and chunky design is certainly a far cry from most women’s watches on the market today, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find a watch better equipped for the outdoors than this.
The conventional analog dial is accompanied by three chronographs (two digital and one analog) that offer a wide range of functions built with the needs of athletes in mind.

GUESS Women’s Stainless Steel Watch
A Truly Extravagant Showpiece

This stainless steel watch from Guess may not match Gucci’s use of cryptic iconography from the model we covered earlier, but it’s an extravagant showpiece in its own right. Jewels and glitter cover practically every available surface on this timepiece, lending it a look that’s in a way more Gucci than the Gucci watch we listed.
All things considered, this is a surprisingly inexpensive watch, and it comes with a layer of practicality that many watches are missing. A three-dial chronograph provides you with both day and date functions as well as the ability to track time accurately in milliseconds.

Timex Unisex Weekender
Simple and Clean Design for Reliable Timekeeping

Not all watches have to be loud and showy. The Timex Unisex Weekender is the perfect watch if you’re looking for simplicity and style. Made of brass, the bezel dial is nice and clean-looking. What makes this watch different is that you can change the strap and accessorize it with whatever you’re wearing for the day. The Weekender comes with one strap, with multiple more colors and styles available to purchase. This watch is perfect for women who don’t want to wear a large watch. It’s an affordable timepiece that’s reliable and attractive. The Indiglo backlight is easy to turn on with the press of a button. Aside from also being water-resistant, the Weekender tells time using Arabic numbers in 24-hour military time.
You can get the Weekender with either a black or white watch face. We like that with one watch you get so much versatility – just choose a watch strap to match your mood.

Swatch White Bishop White and Gold Watch
Clean and Simple Aesthetics

Swatch’s White Bishop timepiece makes use of a simple design that evokes the same style as the Guess Iconic without being quite so one-tone. Instead, it opts for a white silicone band and a face that’s given a layer of depth by the gold markers and Arabic numbering. It’s a clean and simple approach to design that still manages to look good.
The two-tone gold and white hands add a subtle level of contrast to the overall look, and the numbering is distinct and easy to read. It also makes use of the loud tick that’s become something of a trademark for Swatch’s pieces.

Watches for Women Buyer’s Guide
Buying a new watch can be confusing and daunting if you aren’t sure what you’re looking for. There are so many different types of watches to choose from, ranging vastly in price and style. Whether you’re looking for a women’s watch for yourself or as a gift for someone else, there are a few things to look for when choosing the perfect timepiece.
Watch Movement
How the watch tells time is just as important as how it looks. There are three different types of movement, each with its own advantages: mechanical, quartz, and automatic.
Mechanical Movement
Mechanical movement has been around for years. It works by winding a spring on the side of the watch by hand. The inside of the watch needs to be carefully constructed and engineered for these types of watches to work accurately. You’ll need to remember to wind this watch up because if you forget it’s just going to stop working for you. One thing to keep in mind with mechanical movement watches is that they’re not totally accurate. They can lose or gain up to 10 seconds each day.
Quartz Movement
Quartz movement is the most common for women’s wristwatches. It works by using a tiny amount of quartz in the watch that vibrates when the electricity in the battery touches it. You’ll need to replace the battery in quartz watches every year or so. Quartz is more reliable than mechanical movement at keeping time accurately. They’re also more affordable and require less maintenance. Some watch manufacturers market quartz watches as Swizz quartz, but there’s really no difference between the two.
Automatic Watch Movement
Nowhere near as common as mechanical or quartz movements are self-winding watches. These work simply from the movement of your arm. They typically need to be reset every month or two, as just like a mechanical watch, automatic watches can lose or gain a few seconds. If you’re going to buy one of these watches, you might want to think about investing in a watch winder that winds the watch for you.
Choosing a Strap or Bracelet
Once you’ve decided on which movement you want in a watch, you’ll need to decide on the type of strap you want. There are three primary types – straps, bracelets, and nylon.
Leather Straps
Leather straps look elegant and stylish. You’ll be able to find leather straps in all different designs and colors. The leather often matches the dial of the watch, complementing it with a similar color tone. Traditional black watches accented with gold and silver are always in vogue, even for women. And black goes with everything, no matter what you’re wearing.
There are two different types of these straps – the regular pin buckle and the butterfly clasp that snaps open and closed.
Watch Bracelets
Bracelets are more formal and classic. You’ll find that these will allow you to turn a watch into a nice piece of jewelry. The bracelet is made of metal links that are interlocked together, often made from the same type of metal as the watch case. The nice thing about bracelets is that you can resize the watch for your wrist, making the bracelet bigger or smaller as needed.
Nylon Straps
Sports watches usually have nylon or rubber straps so that they’re robust enough to withstand outdoor activities. Some women’s watches have the versatility of both a leather and nylon strap, enabling you to switch the two out as you see fit. This gives you more functionality from your watch, enabling you to use it for both formal wear and for use at the gym.
Watch Crystal
The piece that fits over the face of the watch to protect it is known as the watch crystal. It can be made from a variety of materials, such as plastic or glass, as well as a synthetic opaque sapphire.
Acrylic Crystal
Higher-priced watches will have an acrylic, lightweight crystal. Sports watches often use acrylic since the material doesn’t crack or shatter on impact. The one disadvantage to acrylic is that it’s easily scratched.
Mineral Glass Crystal
If you’re looking for a scratch-resistant watch, mineral glass is a great choice. This glass is treated with heat and chemicals to make it strong and durable.
Sapphire Crystal
If you have more money to spend on a watch, you may want to choose one with a sapphire crystal. Sapphire is a synthetic material and can only be scratched with another sapphire or a diamond, which is why manufacturers who make top-quality watches choose it for their watch faces.
Pick a Watch You Love
Picking a watch is a very personal process. You should first decide whether you’re going to be using the watch for functionality or for style, or both. Stainless steel and leather straps are great for a classic look and are easy to care for, while bracelets can add a little pizazz to your outfit. The shape of your watch face, whether it’s round, rectangular, or oval, will ultimately come down to personal taste.
Conclusion
Whether you’re looking for a women’s watch for yourself or as a gift for someone else, there are so many different types to choose from. You’ll have a hard time deciding on one unless you know specifically what you’re looking for. Digital or analog? Bold so it makes a statement, or elegant and refined?
Decisions are based on budget as well. You can spend a lot of money on a watch that’s endorsed by celebrities, or you can buy a classic watch within your budget. You don’t need to spend a lot of money to buy a timepiece that matches your style and life.
When you know what types of watches are on the market today, you’ll have an easier time deciding which one is right for you. Our list of the Top 20 Best Watches for Women reviews a wide variety of watches, from those that just tell time all the way to those that will act as your fitness buddy. Expert Tip
